A Progressive System for the Biological Control of Mosquitoes

Advisor: Eran Lederman

Man’s war on mosquitoes has been raging for thousands of years. In the modern world, this war has escalated, and Mosquito-borne diseases diseases take about 750,000 lives every year. In his graduate project, Yehuda Hermann chose to develop an innovative system that can replace chemical disinfestation, which is harmful to both humans and the environment. The project launches a cutting-edge system that transforms the adult mosquito into a carrier of the Bacillus bacteria, which attacks mosquito larvae in their incubation environment.
