Volcanic eruption: Basalt is created from flowing lava that cools slowly; Scoria is lava that was released in high pressure and cooled in the air; Obsidian crystallizes in rapid cooling; And Pumice is considered “lava foam”.
Obsessidian carries out a material research on volcanic rocks and intervenes in a place that has been natural thus far – the transformation from lava, to rock, to volcanic glass. Re-melting rocks and examining lava as a raw material, creating the artificial conditions for crystallization and cooling, and processing technologies between glass and metal – all these capture different states of aggregation and introduce new visual manifestations and discoveries; Modern techniques with a nod to the past.
