Do you art me

I created about 1000 coins for my final project. The coins are stamped with the profile of my head and the question “do you art me”. The name of my project evolved from the statement “In God We Trust” I found on a half dollar coin that I had in my own coin collection. I wonder who is “we” and what is “trust”.

The coins declare the start of my own territory in the art world. The coins represent the way art is traded between collectors and Museums. My question is in regard to my acceptance into that trade.

Coins are objects that can belong to anyone. They can also be needed and wanted, beyond their nominal value. I chose the coin as an object that is meant to be traded. Art is a traded asset but it also contains physical, emotional and historic values.

My art is my reflection, the reflection of my thoughts, the reflection of my hands beyond the material.

Materials and technique: porcelain with gold and decal finish. Porcelain coins incorporated with clay and metal. 3D plastic printed stamp. Mixed glass colors, hot pressed.
